ka100 challenge 19: drabble on drabble. Written in response to
scout_lover's drabble The Pact.
Tristan had believed the end of the knights’ service to Rome would dissolve all bonds. What else, after all, had tied Tristan to the others? But as they depart the Wall together, he has no thought of slipping away to go forth alone.
Even the parting they had assumed they had chosen is not to be. After the knights silently reach accord, Tristan sets free his hawk and realizes the long years, the ties of blood and pain, are not so mutable.
Perhaps some bonds cannot be broken in this life.
He will yet see what change death might bring.

Especially that last line - that Tristran thought death was inevitable and he did not fear it. Wow, very powerful! Very Tristran.

I loved that line. I actually looked the word up to be sure I got it.
Your usual good job, still making me think.

Beautifully done!

Thanks for reading! : )
