Meet and Greet Experiment. Hello?

Because I'm busy and sleep deprived, it seems the perfect time to do this.
As relatively small as my friends list is, I realized I don't "talk" to some of you at all. Part of it (beyond busyness/laziness), at least on my part, is that we haven't really been introduced, as the friending was probably done in a silent exchange. So, even when I read your posts, I feel a bit weird just butting in and commenting.
So, here's the Grand Idea: if you feel like it (no pressure), post here and say "hi" (literally, that's cool, or if you're inclined, you can do more of an introduction, say something about why you friended, discuss the weather, or really whatever you want), and then you might have me cropping up on occasion in your comments (since now we've met :D ). Of course, if you’re just here for the fic, and would rather not subject yourself to that, no worries—although I suppose you could post here to complain about why I’m making posts like this rather than actually, you know, writing. ; )
If I know you already, don't feel left out--if you're bored, feel free to post here too, even it's just to tell me what a weirdo I am or to tell me something interesting about yourself that I don’t know, or to inquire why it is I don't respond to your posts either.
Also, if there is anyone out there who does read this journal and is not "friended," as always, feel free to friend (no questions actually asked), and/or now would be an ideal time to introduce yourself. :P
So despite the no pressure thing, it would be cool if someone did respond here, because, you know, otherwise I look kind of stoopid. You wouldn't want that would you?

Date: 2007-04-13 04:26 pm (UTC)So, something you don't know about me, huh? Okay. I rode bareback in a circus.
(Course it was only the once and I was about four, and moved faster than light when the clowns asked for a volunteer from the audience.)

Date: 2007-04-13 04:35 pm (UTC)I friended you becaus I am addicted to the 'Resurrection' series. I've left you a couple of comments outside of that and you were very kind to me the other day (thanks for that).
Anyway, nice to 'meet' you!

Date: 2007-04-13 08:55 pm (UTC)Too many Lancelots fighting it out in your head can either be (1) bad for your mental health or (2) kind of kinky. ; )
Your research sounds really fascinating. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it whenever you're inclined to share. : )

Date: 2007-04-13 05:51 pm (UTC)And nearly all my posts involve fic in a fandom you're not (or I don't think you are) into, so you don't really need to comment :).

Date: 2007-04-13 09:02 pm (UTC)Sunny huh? We're having weird weather here, with all kinds of wind advisories (but that doesn't stop the bumping into people thing).
I'm kind of on a one-ish fandom track right now, mainly because I barely have the time and energy for the one. If I ever reach an end to the Res series, maybe I'll have time to branch out. But, er, that's probably going to be a while. ^^;
Thanks for playing along and "introducing" yourself. :)

Date: 2007-04-13 06:02 pm (UTC)I friended initially because I am completely in love with "Resurrection" and all your visions of the characters. So much so that I feel no need to work on my own WIP (ha ha! Yes, you are so good you have sapped my creativity! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). Feel free to comment in my journal whenever you want.

Date: 2007-04-13 09:06 pm (UTC)I think I've pretty much butted in freely to your journal already, but I'll continue to do so. ; )
And thanks for letting me know you've been enjoying the fic--I always appreciate getting your comments. : )

Date: 2007-04-13 06:44 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure I've left a comment or two on your story's but I'm not sure. I do tend to be a bit of a lurker. I kind of feel like you do about commenting without really being introduced. So, It's nice to "meet" you! And I won't feel weird about leaving you comments now.
Oh, and I just have to tell you that I am totally addicted to the crack that is the "Resurrection series". :)

Date: 2007-04-13 09:14 pm (UTC)I'd love for you to leave any comments you're inclined to, and I'm glad that you're enjoying teh crack! : )
Thanks for playing along and commenting here!

Date: 2007-04-14 12:26 am (UTC)I live in Northern Ontario, Canada (yes, I'm a dreaded Canuck *gg*). Since it's so cold up here I think I have permanent brain freeze, so please forgive your humble servant if on occasion I am less than eloquent.
I anxiously await your next installment of Resurrection and bow to your superior knowledge. Okay, that was a bit over the top, but what the heck, can't hurt to butter you up a little right?!

Date: 2007-04-14 04:51 pm (UTC)I've enjoyed getting to know you a bit over the last year and thanks for always being such an enthusiastic reader. :D
(And you are quite sufficiently eloquent.) :)

Jesus, I don't even remember how I met you. I think it might have been because of Felt Like a Lifetime?
And just for randomness, here's a quote for you.
In the castle in Benwick, the French boy was looking at his face in the polished surface of a kettle-hat. It flashed in the sunlight with the stubborn gleam of metal. It was practically the same as the steel helmet which soldiers still wear, and it did not make a good mirror, but it was the best he could get. He turned the hat in various directions, hoping to get an average idea of his face from the the different distortions which the bulges made. He was trying to find out what he was, and he was afraid of what he would find.

Date: 2007-04-14 04:56 pm (UTC)Um, you know how horrid my memory is, but I think I did first comment on some of your fics, including some rambling discourse on Felt Like.
Hee! Great quote. I know exactly where that's from. I'd quote you the next paragraph, except, sadly, I have no idea where my book is--parents garage?

We met in [Bad username or site: KA 100 @ livejournal.com]. I friended you because I loved your writing and you have all those really cool icons.
We talk mostly about the writing. Since I haven't done any lately, we haven't had much to say. I do love "teh crack" and look forward to each chapter, mostly looking for Tristran since I love him so. I also like the Arthur-Lancelot relationship and appreciate your using all the knights in your stories. You really seem to have a handle on their personalities. And the humor! Love it.

Date: 2007-04-14 05:05 pm (UTC)I'm happy you're enjoying the fic. :D
And whatever you write or don't write, I'm glad to have you around. : )

Date: 2007-04-14 03:37 am (UTC)Thank you sooo much for the burn! I got it in the mail a couple of days ago, but have been way too busy and tired to write. Can't wait to listen to it, as I only have heard Dashboard. I've got a friend swapping me the new Arcade Fire, so I guess I'll pick-up the new Kaiser Chiefs. Dunno if you listen to them, but I'll burn you a copy once I get my hands on both.
BTW, Aidan Moffat's new stuff sounds brilliant so far. That voice has just always gotten to me -- a perfect match for evoking Rebus's Scotland.
He was incredibly sweet, as were the rest of the lads in his new band. Though they did manage to stumble out of the green room after the first sounds check and, without any prompting, find Old Town Bar (it's behind the bloody building -- I must put this down to a Scotsman's sixth sense when it comes to finding a proper tavern in any city).
Anyway, I think I friended you through Ash's journal. I'd been lurking and reading your drabbles on
Hope you have a good weekend! Will let you know about the Afghanistan panel on Thirsday.

Date: 2007-04-14 05:21 pm (UTC)I'm glad you got the CD! Didn't you like my usual expert and graceful packaging (stolen from the supply room)? :p And I haven't had much time to listen to the CD myself as yet, but what I've heard so far I've liked. I'd love to hear whatever you're inclined to share (or just recommend)--I don't listen to the radio at all anymore (are there even any good stations in NY?), so everything I listen to comes to me by recommendations or (more often) random sampling. I do like the Kaiser Chiefs, but I haven't heard anything much from the new album. I've only heard a bit of Arcade Fire and Aidan Moffat, but I have liked what I've heard (and I agree about the quality of his voice). And hee! on the bar finding. I'm going to steal that and use it somewhere--Scotsmen and undead Sarmatians might have something in common. ; )
Have a good weekend as well. I'm going to Journey's End tonight. (!!) Very excited. I'm also hoping to have a chance spend an largish chunk of continuous time tomorrow trying to figure out what I'm doing with teh crack. I think I'm missing a few things still, but I haven't been able to tell since I've been only been working in bits and pieces.

Date: 2007-04-14 04:28 am (UTC)SO. This is one thing you don't know about me. See that paragraph up above? That's how I think and talk, except usually with even more non sequiters. O_o

Date: 2007-04-14 05:29 pm (UTC)And non sequiturs are the most interesting part of any conversation. : )

How did I find you? Via KA *g* and I know you probably have been told this a million times, but I adore your WIP. So thank you for all the wonderful stories contained within your lj.
Me? Not much to say. I like to write a little, I like to chat, I like to see pretty pictures and share ideas and information about the places we live. I am very new to KA, so really don't comment much as I figure most things have been asked and told already and I just know any of my questions would be stupid. *lol*
So...*gg* Hi. It is a pleasure to meet you. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
no subject
Date: 2007-04-14 05:37 pm (UTC)And do feel free to say whatever you like, ask any questions, whatever. I very much enjoy those conversations, and sometimes someone's comment gets my mind working in a slightly different way. : )
Thanks for "introducing" yourself! I'm glad to have a chance to get to know you. :D

Date: 2007-04-14 12:12 pm (UTC)Me? Mother of three with an overactive imagination. Odd fact - and appropriate to the day - I once fed Red Rum a Polo mint. None of that may mean anything to you.

Date: 2007-04-16 02:54 am (UTC)I've been writing poetry and stories and didactic stuff since I was four - stories first, I think. I was an actress for five years, played the flute, guitar, harmonica, recorder, read and write music, briefly took ballet lessons, love to folk dance...
Oh, and I'm re-vamping a story I wrote in

Date: 2007-04-16 04:28 pm (UTC)I don't know what type of community puddle_knickers is, but is it original fic? I don't really read any original fic online, since I have unread shelves of it waiting for me at home as it is. I'm sure there are comms out there for that, but I'm afraid I'm not really familiar with them. You could try searching the lj interests, maybe?
I'm happy you've liked the fic!
And "spam" away. It's all good.

Date: 2007-04-16 09:43 am (UTC)I came to fanfiction late (so I'm told anyway) considering I only got into it when I was in my second year of university and I only started writing about a year after that - so that's about three years of fandom altogether. I tend to have a pretty strict focus on my fandoms and I rarely write outside them. I don't know if that's interesting to you or not. *shrugs*
no subject
Date: 2007-04-16 04:42 pm (UTC)I currently can't seem to handle writing in more than one fandom at a time, so I can understand the strict focus thing.
Thanks for introducing yourself, and thanks for reading!

Date: 2007-04-17 03:55 am (UTC)As for the actual introduction, my name is Amanda, I'm a swedish student and my main fandom is the WWII epos 'Band of Brothers', although I lurk around a lot of other ones. Nice to meet you.
