Title: More to be Dreaded
Word Count: 100
Notes: For ka100 challenge 22a: "Fear the Reaper." It’s been a while since I did one of these, but 100 words is about all I can manage right now.




Staring into sightless eyes, his own blood dripping onto Ector’s face like tears, Lancelot’s fury falters before uprising fear. An hour ago, Ector was laughing that nasal, irritating laugh of his; now his body is stinking under the weak British sun.

Faced with his own death, Lancelot knows no terror. Over the years and across a thousand battlefields, death has become merely another brother on a tall horse. But he is not immune from dread, for he dreams the day will come when death will have taken all the others and have left him standing amid the fallen bodies, alone.
