Lancelot's possessions have been left untouched this year and more, for Arthur has not permitted anyone to disturb the abandoned room, nor dared enter it himself.
But now, the court is moving to the new capital, and Gawain and Galahad have left a box at Arthur’s door.
Arthur has longed for and dreaded this moment. His hands tremble as they sort the meager possessions. When they find cloth, his whole body begins to shake. He brings the black shirt to his face and inhales.
But there is nothing except the musty scent of things long left behind and locked away.
