Title: Nostos
Word Count: 100
Challenge: for
ka100 challenge 20 "Ithaca"
Warnings: Spoilers for the end of the movie (follows theatrical version).
As Lancelot hurls his sword at his killer with the last of his strength, he casts away with it the long anger that has sustained him. He becomes vaguely aware that he has fallen, but all he thinks of is home.
The sounds of the battlefield fade, and he can almost hear the wind in the tall grasses, the thunder of free-running horses, his father’s voice in his ear. Father used to lull him to sleep with tales of the warrior who survived an interminable war only to spend years voyaging home. Lancelot’s own journey will not take so long.
