Does this thing even still work?

It looks like it has been nearly a year since I’ve posted. Who knew? Back in March of last year, I got slammed with a new case and pretty much didn’t sleep until September. (I’m exaggerating. A little.) After that, I think I spent the rest of the year as a zombie, shambling about in a daze. I haven’t been around LJ at all, but it did recently occur to me that the crackiversary came and went without fanfare, and I began to wonder if I was in the mood to write again. (After writing over 700 pages for work in the space of a few months, I wasn’t sure I’d ever be in the mood to write again.) More about the fate of Resurrection next time, but for now I figured I’d just post to break the ice and clear the dust. It helps that today’s a snow day and I’m hanging out in Starbucks with my computer for the first time since . . . finishing up with Ties that Break? I think so.
Hope you’ve all had a good year. I think I’ve a couple comments that I never responded to, which I will check shortly. Sorry about that.
Also, coming soon, a belated report on 2009 in books! It was less than a stellar year for reading, but you know I’ve got to keep track of these things in the quest to stem the tide of books that somehow just keeps flowing into my apartment.

Ector, Galleron, Griflet, Meliagaunt, Pelleas, Sadok, Safer, Urien, Lavaine -gift cards to their favorite knife shop (Before you say anything, Arthur, wouldn’t you rather they have something that is legal than to pilfer whatever they can find to sharpen?)
Gaheris- a weekend for two (yes, that means no Galahad) for you and Gawain . Hotel and hot tub!
Galahad-day at the spa with the works.
Galehaut-I wish I could gift you with a day with Lance, to get reacquainted. Would a gift card to your favorite knife/weapons shop work for now?

Date: 2010-03-08 07:20 pm (UTC)Agravaine-For his incurable sweet tooth when it comes to gummies-one case of assorted gummy candies; i.e. gummy bears sour worms, etc. Agravaine denies that he likes this stuff (and how DARE you suggest it)! Meanwhile, Tor made off with the gift, but Agravaine will later corner him alone and get it back.
Bedivere- subscription to the London Stock Market report (or their equivalent to the Stock market Exchange). Bedivere appreciates your thoughfulness. He just wishes Bruenor didn't keep making off with his gift for use in fish and chips experiments. (You know how those end.)
Bors- Etiquette lessons to help him learn how to woo modern women. Maybe some singing lessons as well. Bors denies he ever sings. And, also, the etiquette teacher disappeared after 10 minutes, claiming she needed to use the loo. She has not returned.
Gaheris- a weekend for two (yes, that means no Galahad) for you and Gawain . Hotel and hot tub! Galahad showed up fifteen minutes after they got there. Gaheris tried to drown him in the hot tub, but Gawain wouldn't let him.
Galahad-day at the spa with the works. Tor couldn't be dissuaded from tagging along. He fell into the mud bath fully clothed and ate all the cucumbers. They got kicked out. When Galahad whined about it later, Gaheris though it was only fair (and secretly bought Tor some donuts).
Lancelot-I was going to get you a weekend get-away with Arthur, but not sure you are up to that right now. A gift basket of gourmet coffees-decaf, of course (It’s the best kind!) Lancelot is furious that you think he's not up to something--but he also says that he has no interest in spending time with Arthur, unless it involves a chance to take another swing at him, preferably with something sharp to hand this time. And don't try to pull that decaf thing on him! He wasn't born yesterday anymore, you know.
Lamorak, Urré, and Lionel-a year’s pass to the local sports club containing skateboarding and rock climbing. Lamorak gashed his head open trying some fancy flip on the skateboard (at Urre's urging and despite the instructor's yelling at him to stop) and Lionel cut the ropes of the other rock climbers (he thought it was a race). They were told not to come back. Perhaps you could give the place a call and get your money refunded.
Re: Feel free to make suggestions!
Date: 2010-03-14 07:24 am (UTC)Breunor needs to leave the papers alone and try out the crock pot...there is so much you can do with one, and it's so much safer!
Bors, looks like you may stay a bachelor this time, sorry pal.
I'd ask who ratted the location of Gawain and Gaheris to Galahad, but I already know the guys tracking skills when he really wants something...or someone.
As for Tor's appearance, that's my fault for turning my back on him after giving him the donuts in the first place. And he was doing so well weaning off the sugar. My bad.
Lance, I meant no offense, just didn't think you wanted to be anywhere near Arthur right now. And decaf coffee really is better because you can drink it any time of day without it keeping you awake at night. At least until the head finishes healing. Truce?
Lamorak, the agreement was to use the safety equipment that goes with the sport! Where was your helmet? Lionel, even if it was a race, cutting the ropes is bad form. Shame on you! The establishment is taking the damages out of any possible refund. After that we are just going to have to fine an open area that you can "play" in.
I really should have my head examined for volunteering to play house mother!

Date: 2010-02-11 11:39 pm (UTC)Sounds like you had a rough year and I do understand how you needed to step away for a while and rejuvenate. You have a very challenging career and some damn weird bosses so that certainly will take a toll on you and your muses.
I'm looking forward to more of the Resurrection series when you're up to writing more :))
Take care!

Date: 2010-02-13 08:59 pm (UTC)Look forward to your book report. I am planning tomorrow to sit down and read The Lovely Bones so I can go see the film when it is released next Friday.
I do still read the crack I have most of saved on my hard drive to work back through when I miss it but understand that sometimes the muses won't do as you wish them.
Hope this is the start of you being able to be around a little more.
