That's THE perfect icon for this post. God, does Lance look good or what? He just radiates 'hot anti-hero' in the Burberry suit.
I've been waiting for another solid A/L chapter. I'm glad Lance bared his fangs in this one, and that you've introduced another OC to add to the growing tension about Merlin's grand scheme. Glad that we see Lance (and frankly all the other knights) feeling quite lost and caught up.
The story definitely benefits from a Guin-type nuisance/bitch. Am curious to see if her role gets any bigger. Will Ms. Delaney be assigned by Merlin to be Arthur's PA? Don't think there's a public figure in England without one, and much to Lance's chagrin, she fits the bill. Though Arthur will probably resist having someone who's not a knight shadow him, and try to get Lance the job and convince Lance to take it. Hmm. So many possibilities here. PA's surface as part of political sex scandals in Britain every so often, so Lance will definitely be on his guard.
"Nothing that you do not wish to give me." He held out his hand. He found himself holding his breath until Lancelot, still not seeming to look around, took it.
Arthur twined his fingers around Lancelot's and tried not to clutch at them. Without meaning to, he hoarsely added, "And I want you to be here with me."
Lancelot made a sound of disgust. "Where the hell else would I go?" But his hand tightened around Arthur's.
Love how you ended this chapter. Great retort by Lance. Kind of reminds me of Han Solo in ROTJ, when Leia finally says she loves him, and he turns, and in a matter-of-fact manner, replies "I know." At the end of the day, Lance and Arthur both know that they can't deny each other anything. Such beautiful, powerful imagery here.
