Well, I figure the best way to get Lancelot to want to do something is to tell him not to. Arthur probably knows that, although he, of course, can't resist telling him anyway. So thus the appeal to what he sees as Lancelot's self interest. I think this dynamic plays out a couple of other times over the series, but I think I'm also making Arthur a bit smarter (or more interested) than he was in the movie--there he never seemed to even bother to try to appeal to L's self interest.
Hmm. Camelot, huh? Well I might have to rent it and watch that scene and see if anything comes to me. Although, from what I remember, I think you're right--Lancelot wouldn't sit still and watch that. I had rather been picturing their movie night as watching zombie movies, but this could be just as fun. : )
