I hear you. On all counts. While space is, and has long been, an issue for me with regard to books, I've been an avid reader and collector years and years. And years. And while financially and, well, spatially speaking, a Kindle would be a great idea for me, I love books as physical objects too much ever to be satisfied with digital.
I like being able to turn pages and hold the book in my mind. I like the way books smell, and different books smell differently and bring back different memories. I like being able to see how much of a book I've read so if it's really good I know I'll try to read slower to make it last longer.
So, materialist, yes, I suppose I am. In spite of everything I know to be true and everything I (try to) believe and uphold. I don't think a Kindle will ever be something I'll own.
