Today's the Day

Voted.

(I love New York’s archaic voting machines; I hope they never replace them with something modern and electronic. There’s something about physically pulling that long lever and actually flipping little black switches by your candidates’ names. And then you get to pull the lever again, and it makes this great, final, solid, thumping sound. I love that sound.)

Now all that’s left is the waiting. Followed by the either the glee/running around in excited circles/joyful shrieking/(now what?) or the (please, no) horror/rage/disbelief/despair/(fleeing? rioting?).

So if you have lucky underwear, socks, or hats, today’s the day. I’m trying for zen at this point, but yeah, right.

At least you had the enjoyment of pulling the little black lever, I had to color in ovals on a paper ballot while sitting at a long table with 20 other voters. *rolls eyes*

And I hope to all the gods that they are finished filling my mailbox with paper adverts. Save a tree next election!

Sounds too much like standardized testing to me. I hope no one was copying off her neighbor.

I didn't get many adverts in the mail--not sure if this is because I live in a state which is a solid, unbudging color or because someone told what I did with the unsolicited signed picture of the president and first lady that I got some years ago.

Since I can't vote, I'm making myself go for a run after work to try to alleviate my anxiety. At least until I can pour myself a bottle glass of wine.

La, la, la, not thinking about it. La, la, la, working. La, la, la, not checking the news sites incessantly even though none of the polls have closed yet.

I'm now chasing the wine with a Zantac 150.

Did you hear -- Tim Robbins turned up at his polling place and his name wasn't on the roster?

OMFG!!! MSNBC is counting Ohio for Obama.

You get to pull a lever?! We only put number on a piece of paper!!

Each state has its own methodology (see post above re paper voting). But it is one of the many reasons why I like my adopted state. We have cool, old, mechanical machines! (They originate from the late 19th century.)

That's still so cool, maybe one day here in Aus we'll get upgraded to the 19th century! *G*

As my mother's been saying for months now, well, it would sure suck to have to pick up and move to a different country in January.

*snort*

Is this damn thing over with yet?

I'd have fled long ago, but there's no where to go. Canada ceased to be a viable option a couple years ago, I can't afford Britain, and I suck at learning new languages.
