Crackiversay Q&A
Jan. 25th, 2008 12:05 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
In the spirit of the Crackiversary, I opened the floor to any questions you guys wanted to ask. I’m really honored that some of you took the time to come up with questions. But it turns out that this was not one of my better ideas, since, of course, now I’m not really going to answer most of the questions. If the U.S. primaries haven’t made you utterly sick of the whole dodging the question thing, here are the questions and my often not so answering answers. Enjoy. ;)
shelley_stone asked:
I'm dying to know who woke up first: Galahad or Gawain? How did the reunion go?
As far as I know, the knights woke in fairly quick succession, in the reverse order that they died—with the exceptions of Arthur (already resurrected) and Lancelot. In the last story, I think it was probably clear that Gally died after Gawain, therefore he would have woken first, and then Gawain. They were pretty confused, but their reunion was quite happy until Gaheris woke up. Then the real fun began.
And, okay I'll bite.... how did Arthur crash the car? I have my suspicions.... but I'll wait to hear from you ;p
Arthur is quite a competent driver, Lancelot’s insinuations and interferences aside. However, Arthur was still fairly new to this era the first time he went out driving alone. Unluckily for him, a rare warm front had arrived, and Arthur had not yet been introduced to some of the modern dressing conventions—an oversight you can blame on Ms. Delaney if you’re inclined. Let’s just say the consequences were kind of obvious, although they were the result of shock more than anything else. Arthur does not ogle. Or so he says. And he’s still, after a year in this time, pretty scandalized by the way some young (and not so young) women dress (or, actually, don't).
toujourspur1 asked:
Does Tristan know about the Isolde legends yet? Does Dinaden? ;) If so, how did he/they react?
Tristan doesn’t exactly let on about what he knows and doesn’t know, but it’s pretty safe to assume that he knows stuff if it’s out there to know. His reaction, of course, is no reaction. Dinaden, on the other hand, found it quite hilarious at first, but it seemed to amuse him less the longer Tristan ignored him. Once, a while ago, he was overheard drunkenly grumbling under his breath about dressing up like an Irish princess if that was what it took.
pennie_dredful (thanks for your very kind words, btw) asked:
Which knight died last before the events of the movie, bringing them down to 6 (plus Arthur)? Which of the knights died before Arthur became their commander?
This is interesting, since I haven’t really thought very much about the first part of this question. I don’t think anyone had died for about six months or so before Dagonet. I might not have my facts straight here, but I’ve heard that the knight who died was Bedivere. And none of the Sarmatians who died before Arthur took command have been resurrected.
There's a bit in one of the earlier question memes about Gareth meeting Sarah Jane, and she reminds him of something/someone. (""Please excuse—" Gareth began, although he found himself fumbling after the words. She was not pretty, but she stood there with an easy confidence that reminded him of something.") What does she remind him of?
The meme referred to is here. Gareth isn’t sure who Sarah Jane reminded him of in that moment. Gareth likes strong women, so it could have been someone he was close to in the last life. Or maybe it’s just that he recognized the horsewoman in Sarah Jane, and it stirred some old memory of the proud Sarmatian women he knew as a boy.
Which of the knights would Tor like to get together with? He mentions a crush on Gaheris...although if he's clever he'll go for Bruenor (who can cook him sweets) or Bedivere (who can buy him donuts).
Tor’s reaction to this question is “EWWW!!!” It’s true that Tor once, for a nanosecond, had a sort-of, teeny, tiny, maybe crush on Gaheris (in a moment of insanity, he maintains), but, “ewww!” Although I'm not sure what gave you the idea that Tor might be clever, he does claim eternal (if actually fleeting) gratitude toward anyone who cooks for him (but he does think that Bruenor is somewhat mean—keeping him from the blender being a particular sore spot). And Bedivere, by the way, is far too busy with his computer, newspapers and his financial updates sent to his blackberry (and trying (fairly unsuccessfully) to keep Bruneor's more creative cooking experiments in check) to do mundane things like buy donuts—which are bad for one’s health, anyway.
When did Lancelot realize he'd fallen in love with Arthur?
Lancelot—quite snottily, if I might comment—says that you're making a rather large assumption here. Really, though, that would be telling, and apparently your author is not much into doing that. Sorry.
ts5000 asked:
But I was wondering, does Arthur ever get the urge to punch Merlin's lights out?
I believe Arthur has expressed his desire to commit violence upon Merlin’s person on several occasions. (See, for example, when he arrives at Merlin’s house after the shooting, and his recollections of his arguments with Merlin about the failed attempts to resurrect Lancelot). He refrains though. For now.
And he has to know :blink blink: that Gwenie darling is playing a game with him. Yes?
You can blink cutely all you want, but not telling. ;)
flawsrevenge asked:
Were Galehaut's feelings for Lancelot ever truly returned? I believe Lancelot claims it "wasn't like that" or something, but that later there are mentions of mourning
Well, Lancelot and Galehaut were best friends before Galehaut died and they did nearly everything together. Whether it was more depends on whose memories you believe.
How exactly did Lancelot's beard come off? There was speculation that if half came off then the rest would have to follow...is that how it happened
Neither Lancelot nor Arthur are willing to talk, although Lancelot is glaring at Arthur. My guess is that Dagonet was right and that Arthur managed to get a swipe at it, and that was victory, since there was no way Lancelot was going to walk around with an odd bit of his beard shaved. I would also guess that Lancelot wasn’t gracious in defeat, and some of the damage that Arthur suffered in that confrontation occurred after Arthur “won.” But that’s just my speculation, you understand.
darklyscarlett asked (look, I remembered, I get a gold star):
Have Bors and Dag grown their hair back? Is Dag rockin' the fauxhawk?
That’s assuming that they had any hair to grow back. :p Although scars have disappeared, and ages have been magically adjusted, Bors is still as bald as ever. Perhaps he peeved off Merlin at some point. Dag, on the other hand, has chosen to keep shaving his head (he wondered what a fauxhawk is, but Yvain explained it to him). The rumor is that he shaves his head because Kay has some kind of fetish about it (the very thought of which makes Bors feel a little queasy, by the way).
How about a glimpse of Percy's Very Sekrit sketch/recipe book? Does it include a charcoal study of Tor gorging himself on cake?
We’ll probably get a look of Percival's Very Sekrit Sketchbook soon. But I wouldn’t be surprised to find a number of food still lives in it, as well as some homages to his favorite cereal boxes. Whether Tor appears—well that would probably require Tor to be still for longer than a minute in Percy’s presence, and they can’t go for half that without getting into a fight.
