King Arthur Drabble: Domesticated

Title: Domesticated
Word Count: 100
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] ka100 challenge 37a, "cats and dogs"

"What is that?"

Arthur kept petting it. "The visiting commander's son's dog."

That was not a dog. Lancelot remembered dogs. Dogs were great, fierce predators—not over-eager, shameless, tail-wagging things.

"Isn't he lovely?" Then, apparently speaking directly to it, "Yes, yes you are."

Lancelot grimaced at the deranged tone. The slobbering creature was licking all over Arthur's face.

Quite as stupid as it looked, it turned to Lancelot hopefully and bounded forward, tongue lolling. Lancelot had the door slammed behind him before it got within a foot.

He shuddered as he walked away. He wouldn't be kissing Arthur anytime soon.

OH MY GOD - I can never listen to Arthur again without hearing him say in THAT voice - "Yes, yes you are." Too perfectly them. I do think Lancelot will get over his revulsion eventually, won't he?

Hah! Love it. The last line made me spit out my coke.

*laughs* Arthur is just tooooo cute! Lancelot will not be able to refrain from kissing him though *pokes L*

Very cute ficlet!

Yes, our L does have a brain in his head. *laughs* Love it. Very cute. And I can just imagine Arthur babytalking a fucking dog. :))))

Jealous just a little Lancelot? The dog had all Arthur's attention and poor Lancelot, relegated to second place *snicker*

Loved it!

: ) I dunno, though. He's kind of stubborn and the more Arthur pets it the less he'll like it. And then there's the whole natural enemies thing . . . .

Glad you enjoyed it!

Hopefully no one was standing in front of you and your computer ducked. ; ) Thanks for reading!

[identity profile] amari-z.livejournal.com 2007-07-26 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he'll give in eventually I'm sure. ;) Glad you liked it!

Hee! Couldn't resist. Glad you liked it. *hugs*

That's part of it, no doubt, but it may have also been instinctive dislike--one semi-domesticated creature eying a fully domesticated one and not liking what he's seeing. ; )

Thanks for reading!

[identity profile] shelley-stone.livejournal.com 2007-07-26 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
For the life of me I can't see Lancelot as semi-domesticated, and, he certainly isn't domesticated. He's a wild card and that's the draw for Arthur. In my humble opinion at any rate. :))

[identity profile] amari-z.livejournal.com 2007-07-26 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, semi only means a partially, not half or anything. He does, after all, live behind walls these days and can play nice--when he wants to. ;)

Operative words: "when he wants to". Unpredictable is always sexy to me :))

Hehe, loved it! Such a great use of the prompt. :) I love seeing Arthur acting all silly over something - gives him an edge of innocence, almost. And the last line is perfect. ;)

First off, I really need to make a lancelot icon... Anyway, that was such a great story, especially "That was not a dog. Lancelot remembered dogs. Dogs were great, fierce predators—not over-eager, shameless, tail-wagging things." Perfect for Lancelot. Oh, and I found a book today in my Department Library at college...An anthology of gay literature... and it featured, among others, the story of Lancelot and Galehaut. I couldn't borrow it today, but definitely will on Monday...dunno why I'm telling you this.

Arthur has a silly side. Although I'm sure he would deny it. ; ) I'm glad you liked it--thanks for commenting!

I'm happy you enjoyed it. :D

I love the story of Lancelot and Galehaut--although I've certainly never read a version from a gay anthology. I've adopted it for my own nefarious purposes in the Resurrection series.
