Elizabeth the First, her mother Queen Anne Boleyn (got a bum rap for being a woman with a brain and not afraid to show it). Cleopatra. She ruled over a decaying and dying Egyptian dynasty but she knew how to gain power and wield it. Eleanor of Aquitaine. Rachel Carson, a Canadian conservationist. She was one of the first to point out the dangers of pesticides. Laura Secord. Another Canuck who warned the British of an American invasion during the War of 1812. Joan of Arc, Mother Theresa. Charlotte Corday. A Sans Culotte who murdered Marat in his bath. She went bravely to her execution never once regretting killing a monster. Catherine Parr. I've liked her because she was a published author (at a time when women were not published and certainly were not educated enough be write) and she survived Henry VIII and his insanity. Amelia Earhart. Sophie Scholl was part of the White Rose, a 6 member team of activists, who called for active opposition to Adolph Hitler. She was beheaded for her beliefs.
