I'm glad you're enjoying even on reread! It's funny, because although this was immediately dubbed "AU" by readers, and I've called it that myself--I've frequently thought that wasn't the case. It's not alternative universe at all. ; )

A and L are indeed men (or really, should that be boys?)--if they weren't, it would be half as much fun, and the story probably would have ended long ago.
