Yes, I frequently want to pound on Arthur. I can understand that the movie makers wanted us to think that he was all noble and stuff--but please. He comes across as a self-righteous, self-absorbed, not very bright arsehole. (And that's putting aside the fact that nearly everything that comes out his mouth is an anachronism.) Generally, unless I'm in the mood to torture him, as in these two fics, I have to adjust him slightly so that he's a little more what I think the movie makers wanted him to be and a little less what he actually came across as. But only a little, because it's still too fun to poke at him.
