Surrounded
For the last, oh, four years or so, Canada has reassured me as a potential base of retreat--but, alas, perhaps no more after yesterday's election.
The NY Times noted that "[The] Conservative victory . . . is likely to improve Canada's strained relations with the Bush administration," which is not, in my mind, something to brag about. I also have to wonder why the normally sensible-seeming Canadians have gone the way of their stupider American cousins (hey, I can say that, I'm a member of the latter group, unfortunately), and found it interesting that, right under the headline about the election, was this headline: "Canada Confirms New Case of Mad Cow Disease." Coincidence? Perhaps not. ; )
Maybe I should look into Greenland . . . .
