On Killing was pretty good. As you've guessed, it does credit the desensitization argument. It's rather workmanlike, but I particularly liked it because Grossman has an actual military background as well as being trained in psychology. I think Grossman co-wrote a newer book, On Combat, but I haven't gotten around to reading that one.
I liked Companion to Wolves as well. I usually don't bother keeping track of a read like that but I liked it enough that I wanted to list it.
Ha! I don't think it's so much reading fast as being protective of my reading time and being an insomniac at certain points. I've learned to take advantage of when I can't sleep rather than just fretting about it.
