Author's Notes: Spoilers for end of the movie. Any feedback welcome.
Guinevere finds herself sharing her welcome in Arthur’s rooms with Lancelot’s ashes. She wakes each morning with the place beside her empty and Arthur standing before the unshuttered window, urn cradled in his arms. She cannot tell what he looks for, and Arthur’s face does not allow for questions. She wonders whether the ashes are to take up permanent residence.
One morning, Arthur and the urn are gone. She knows not why Arthur chose this morning, but she waits, watching from the battlements for his return, her loose hair whipping like a banner in the direction of the rising sun.
