Summary: For them, there is no life without war.

They watch for them. The signs. The trickle of water leaching from snow walls; curry brushes thickening with the sheddings of winter coats; buds bursting from the trees.
But as they talk of galloping under the sun, their voices hint at darker yearnings. For the signs rouse the emotions left safely hibernating in the confined months: dread and longing combined, the unholy euphoria that is the memory of war.
Around them, the world rebirths the promise of beauty. And they too wait, like the seeds in the earth, like the brown, buried grasses, like the frozen streams, to live again.
